EHT Man Indicted for Vehicular Homicide in Fatal Crash

An Atlantic County grand jury has handed down an indictment against an Egg Harbor Township resident in connection with a fatal crash that occurred nearly a year ago, bringing formal charges in a case that has deeply affected our community.

According to the Atlantic County Prosecutors Office, Jahin Alam, 28, of Egg Harbor Township, has been indicted on charges of Reckless Vehicular Homicide. The indictment stems from a head-on collision that took place on the afternoon of July 26, 2025, on Ocean Heights Avenue in Mays Landing.

Investigators determined that Alam was driving when his vehicle struck another car head-on. The driver of the other vehicle, Eileen Kursnirik, 87, of Egg Harbor Township, was rushed to the hospital following the collision. Tragically, she succumbed to her injuries several days later.

The crash investigation was conducted jointly by Hamilton Township Police and the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office's Fatal Crash Investigation Unit, reflecting the serious nature of the incident and the thorough approach taken to determine what happened that summer afternoon.

While the indictment represents a significant step in the legal process, authorities remind the public that charges are accusations and all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The case will now proceed through the Atlantic County court system.

This tragic incident serves as a sobering reminder of the devastating consequences that can result from reckless driving. Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of Eileen Kursnirik as they continue to cope with their loss.
