Young Performers: Ocean City Theatre Company Opens Auditions for Summer 2026 Junior Company

If you have a young performer in your household who dreams of taking center stage, mark your calendars for early May. The Ocean City Theatre Company is rolling out the red carpet for its 2026 Junior Company auditions, offering local students a chance to shine in two high-energy summer productions.

Auditions are scheduled for May 2 and 3, 2026, and here's the good news for busy families: students only need to attend one of these dates. The theatre company is casting for two distinct shows tailored to different age groups, ensuring that middle and high school students alike can find their spotlight moment.

Two Shows, Two Age Groups

For our younger theatre enthusiasts in 5th through 8th grade, Disney's High School Musical JR. takes the stage. This beloved adaptation brings the energy and heart of the popular film to life, with performances scheduled for August 28 and 29 at the iconic Ocean City Music Pier. It's the perfect introduction to professional-level theatre for middle schoolers ready to explore their artistic talents.

High school students, including current 9th through 12th graders and graduating seniors from the Class of 2026, will audition for FAME! This dynamic production captures the passion, struggle, and triumph of students at a performing arts high school. Performances are set for July 17 and 19, also at the Music Pier, giving our older students a chance to tackle more mature theatrical material.

More Than Just a Summer Show

What sets the OCTC Junior Company apart is its commitment to genuine theatrical education. This isn't simply about putting on a show—it's about nurturing the next generation of performers through professional-caliber training. Young actors work alongside experienced directors, choreographers, and music directors who bring years of expertise to the rehearsal room.

Participants receive comprehensive instruction in the theatrical trifecta: acting, singing, and dance. The program creates a supportive environment where students can take creative risks, build confidence, and develop skills that extend far beyond the stage. Whether your child dreams of Broadway or simply wants to explore the performing arts, the Junior Company offers an invaluable summer experience.

How to Get Involved

Parents and students interested in auditioning can find registration information and additional details on the Ocean City Theatre Company's website at oceancitytheatrecompany.com. Look for the Junior Company or Education pages, where you'll find everything needed to prepare for auditions.

Questions? The theatre company welcomes inquiries via email at info@oceancitytheatrecompany.com. Their staff can provide guidance on what to expect during auditions and help families understand the summer commitment involved.

A Community Treasure

As a nonprofit professional theatre company, Ocean City Theatre Company has become a cornerstone of our local arts community. Their dedication to producing quality theatrical productions while providing exceptional arts education opportunities enriches our region and gives young people meaningful ways to engage with the performing arts.

Summer at the Jersey Shore is synonymous with beach days and boardwalk nights, but for participants in the Junior Company, it also means the thrill of rehearsals, the camaraderie of cast bonding, and the unforgettable rush of performing before a live audience at the Music Pier. It's a summer experience that creates memories—and skills—that last a lifetime.

Whether your student is a seasoned performer or considering their first audition, the Ocean City Theatre Company's Junior Company offers a welcoming space to explore theatrical artistry. This summer, our community's young talents will have the chance to discover what it truly means to break a leg.
