Three Arrested After Violent Altercation at Showboat Resort

Our community is breathing a bit easier today after Atlantic City police announced the arrest of three suspects connected to a violent incident earlier this month at the Showboat Resort. The arrests bring some closure to a chaotic scene that unfolded on the evening of Saturday, April 5.

Police identified the suspects on Wednesday as 31-year-old Kiandre Harris of Glen Burnie, Maryland; 38-year-old Quheem Whitehead of Newark, New Jersey; and 41-year-old Marquita Wilson of Newark, New Jersey. All three now face charges stemming from an incident that left two people injured.

The incident began when officers were dispatched to the Showboat at 10:37 p.m. on April 5 following reports of a stabbing. When police arrived, they discovered a 38-year-old woman from Maryland who had been assaulted. However, the stabbing victim had already fled the scene.

According to investigators, what started as an argument quickly escalated into violence. Police say Whitehead chased the female assault victim and struck her in the head several times, knocking her to the ground. While she was down, Wilson allegedly kicked the victim in the face multiple times.

During the assault, Harris stabbed Whitehead twice in the back with a pocketknife, according to police. Whitehead later arrived at a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries from the stabbing.

The investigation highlights the swift work of our local law enforcement in piecing together a complex incident involving multiple victims and suspects. The Atlantic City Police Department's Criminal Investigations Section worked for over a week to identify and apprehend those responsible.
