As families across our state prepare for Easter celebrations, ShopRite stores have adjusted their operating hours to give employees time with their loved ones while still serving customers who need last-minute holiday essentials.
The grocery chain's more than 150 New Jersey locations are taking varied approaches this Easter Sunday, with roughly one-third closing for the day while others maintain reduced hours or continue round-the-clock service.
24-Hour Locations Staying Open
Several ShopRite locations will maintain their usual 24-hour operations throughout Easter, providing convenience for shoppers with unconventional schedules. These include stores in Rockaway (Dover), East Orange, Elizabeth, Englewood, Linden, Old Bridge, Perth Amboy, Rochelle Park, and Wharton.

More than 40 ShopRite locations will close their doors completely on Easter Sunday. These include stores in Bayonne, Belleville, Berlin, Elmwood Park (Broadway & East 53rd Street), Emerson, Fair Lawn (Maple & Hemlock), Flanders, Flemington, Franklin, Glassboro, Hackensack, Hackettstown (Mansfield), Hillsdale, Hoboken, Jersey City (Metro Plaza), Chews Landing (Laurel Springs), Lawnside, Lodi, Lyndhurst, Medford, Netcong, New Milford, Newton, North Bergen (Columbia Park), Northvale, Palisades Park, Parsippany, Phillipsburg (Greenwich), Ramsey, Sicklerville, Sparta, Stanhope (Byram), Succasunna, Sussex, Wallington, Wayne (Wayne Hills Mall), West Deptford, West Milford, Williamstown, Woolwich (Center Square Plaza), and Wyckoff.
Modified Hours Across the State
Most ShopRite locations are opening early but closing in the afternoon or early evening. Common schedules include 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., giving shoppers morning and early afternoon access while allowing staff to wrap up by mid-day.
Some stores are opening especially early, with locations in Bloomfield (Brookdale), Cedar Knolls (Greater Morristown), and Livingston opening at 6:30 a.m. Meanwhile, a handful of stores are extending hours later into the evening, including locations in Chester (until 6 p.m.), Newark (until 11 p.m.), and Clinton (until 9 p.m.).
The Clark location stands out with an unusual schedule, operating from 6 a.m. until 1 a.m. the following morning.
Plan Ahead for Your Easter Shopping
With such varied hours across locations, we recommend calling your local ShopRite before making the trip or checking their website for the most current information. If you're planning a big Easter meal, consider shopping on Saturday to avoid any last-minute surprises.
For shoppers in areas where their usual store is closed, several nearby alternatives may be operating on modified hours. The 24-hour locations offer the most flexibility for those who need to shop outside traditional daytime hours.
Whether you're picking up ingredients for Easter brunch, grabbing a forgotten item, or simply doing your regular grocery run, knowing your local store's hours can save you a wasted trip and help you plan your holiday weekend more smoothly.
