Our region is getting a rare chance to see one of the world's biggest pop stars in an intimate venue this summer. Colombian superstar Shakira will perform at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City on July 25, bringing her acclaimed "Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran" tour to the Jersey Shore.
The concert is part of a limited 13-show U.S. arena run that marks a departure from the stadium-sized venues Shakira typically fills around the globe. Boardwalk Hall, with its capacity of just under 15,000, will offer fans a more personal experience with the Grammy-winning artist whose career spans decades and continents.
The booking represents a significant achievement for Atlantic City's tourism efforts. Visit AC, the city's promotional organization, has been working to attract major musical acts as part of a renewed strategy to boost visitor numbers. This follows the announcement of Australian electronic trio Rüfüs Du Sol performing on the beach on August 29, marking the first oversized beach concert since 2023.
Shakira's tour celebrates her 2024 album "Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran" — translated as "Women No Longer Cry" — and showcases why she remains one of the most influential artists in global pop music. The current Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nominee has earned four Grammy Awards and 15 Latin Grammy Awards throughout her career, speaks seven languages, and achieved massive crossover success with hits like her 2006 collaboration with Wyclef Jean, "Hips Don't Lie."
While Shakira is performing in stadiums internationally — including 11 shows scheduled for September and October in a custom-built 50,000-plus capacity venue in Madrid being dubbed "Shakira Stadium" — her summer U.S. tour deliberately focuses on smaller arenas. The timing coincides with the FIFA World Cup taking place in North American cities, including Philadelphia.
The Atlantic City show is part of a regional cluster of performances. Shakira will also appear in Baltimore on July 6, Newark on July 16, Brooklyn on July 20, and Belmont Park, New York on July 23. Notably, Philadelphia is not included on the tour schedule, making the Atlantic City date the closest opportunity for our area's fans to see the show.
Tickets will be available through Citi and Verizon presales starting Tuesday, April 7, with general public sales beginning Thursday, April 9 at 10 a.m. via Shakira.com. Given the limited number of U.S. dates and the intimate venue size compared to her typical stadium tours, demand is expected to be strong.
For Atlantic City, landing an artist of Shakira's caliber signals the city's commitment to competing with larger markets for world-class entertainment. The summer concert season is shaping up to be one of the strongest in recent years for the Boardwalk, offering residents and visitors alike memorable experiences without the trek to Philadelphia or New York.
