Rebecca Gayheart continues to publicly mourn the loss of Eric Dane, sharing a heartfelt tribute on Wednesday, May 7, nearly three months after the actor's death following a battle with ALS.
The 54-year-old actress posted a memorial image to her Instagram Stories featuring a plaque that read "In Loving Memory of Eric William Dane. 1972-2026." The tribute was surrounded by personal items that appeared to hold significance to the late actor, including poker chips, cigars, and other mementos. A vibrant pink flower was also visible in the photograph, and Gayheart selected Lana Del Rey's "Say Yes to Heaven" as the accompanying music.
The emotional post arrives as Gayheart and her family continue to navigate life without Dane, who passed away on a Thursday afternoon in February at age 53. His family confirmed the death on February 19, releasing a statement that detailed his courageous fight against amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
"With heavy hearts, we share that Eric Dane passed on Thursday afternoon following a courageous battle with ALS," the statement read. "He spent his final days surrounded by dear friends, his devoted wife, and his two beautiful daughters, Billie and Georgia, who were the center of his world."
The family statement emphasized Dane's advocacy work during his illness, noting that he became passionate about raising awareness and supporting research for ALS. The statement concluded with a request for privacy, acknowledging the actor's gratitude for the support from fans during his health battle.
Dane, known for his roles in "Euphoria" and other prominent television series, first publicly revealed his ALS diagnosis in April 2025. At the time, he expressed gratitude for having his family's support while navigating the challenging diagnosis.
"I have been diagnosed with ALS," Dane stated. "I am grateful to have my loving family by my side as we navigate this next chapter."
Gayheart and Dane were married from 2004 to 2018 and share two daughters: Billie, 16, and Georgia, 14. Notably, Gayheart withdrew her petition for divorce in 2025 as Dane faced his ALS battle, demonstrating the family's unity during the health crisis.
The actress previously broke her silence about Dane's death on March 18, posting a montage of throwback photographs featuring the couple and their daughters. In that post, she wrote simply, "There are no words. All our love forever — your girls ❤️🩹❤️."
In the days following Dane's death, Gayheart expressed gratitude for the community support her family received during the difficult time. On February 22, she acknowledged the outpouring of love through her Instagram Stories.
"I am so blown away by the outpouring of love and support from our community," she wrote. "There aren't words to express our gratitude. You are truly holding us up during this difficult time."
The latest tribute demonstrates that Gayheart continues to honor Dane's memory while processing her grief alongside her daughters. The memorial plaque and personal items suggest a private remembrance space where the family can reflect on the life and legacy of the beloved actor and father.
