Reality TV Cast Members Condemn Co-Star's Controversial Remarks

The cast of the Netflix reality series 'Members Only: Palm Beach' has publicly criticized fellow cast member Gale Brophy for her conduct during the show's inaugural season, which premiered on December 29.

During a recent appearance on Rachel Uchitel's 'Miss Understood' podcast, multiple cast members addressed controversial remarks Brophy directed at Ro-Mina Ustayev during filming. The incident in question occurred during an etiquette class featured on the program, where Brophy allegedly told Ustayev to return to her own country if she wished to eat with her hands, stating that Palm Beach socialites only use their hands for appetizers and finger foods.

Brophy has defended her comments as a teachable moment and innocuous advice. However, her castmates have characterized the behavior differently, with several accusing her of bullying.

Rosalyn Yellin, who is identified as a friend of Brophy and reportedly instrumental in her participation on the show, expressed shock at the comment during the podcast discussion. Yellin stated she wished she had more firmly corrected Brophy at the time.

Ustayev revealed that she did not initially hear the remark because Brophy directed it only to Yellin. Nevertheless, Ustayev confirmed the comment caused her significant distress once she became aware of it. She described Brophy's overall behavior as both 'crazy' and 'mean.' Yellin concurred with the characterization of Brophy as mean, though she suggested the behavior may have been amplified for the cameras.

Netflix has not yet announced whether 'Members Only: Palm Beach' will return for a second season. While cast members have expressed interest in participating in future episodes, the podcast discussion suggests Brophy would face considerable resistance from her former co-stars should she seek to return.

The controversy highlights ongoing discussions about appropriate conduct on reality television programs and the responsibility cast members bear for their on-camera statements and behavior.
