Reality Star's Wife Admits Relapse After DUI Arrest

Amanda Conner, the 35-year-old wife of former Teen Mom star Ryan Edwards, broke her silence on Wednesday, May 27, following her recent arrest on charges of driving under the influence and child abuse. In a candid social media post, Conner admitted to relapsing after maintaining three years of sobriety, marking a significant setback in her recovery journey.

Speaking directly to her followers via TikTok, Conner delivered an emotional confession while sitting on the floor preparing for the day. Her vulnerability was evident as she acknowledged the gravity of her situation and the disappointment she caused to those who supported her recovery.

"I relapsed. After three years of me busting my ass and getting my life together, I relapsed. I think I got too comfortable, let my guard down and it happened," Conner shared in the video. "I do know addiction does not care how long you've been clean, how much you've built, it doesn't care how many people believed in you, it doesn't care about none of that."

The circumstances surrounding Conner's arrest paint a troubling picture of the relapse's immediate consequences. According to audio released by TMZ on Sunday, May 24, a husband contacted law enforcement with concerns that his wife had been using narcotics and refused to take a drug test before driving away with their 15-month-old daughter, Presley. While the caller was not identified by name in the report, the incident led to Conner's subsequent arrest.

The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office Jail confirmed that Conner was taken into custody and charged with child abuse and neglect for allegedly driving under the influence with an infant in the vehicle. She also faced charges for allegedly driving on the wrong side of the road. Her bond was set at sixteen thousand dollars, and she was ordered not to contact the alleged victim following her release.

In her Wednesday statement, Conner expressed deep remorse for her actions and the impact on her supporters. "You all ride so hard for me and I appreciate the f** out of that," she said. "I have let you all down and I've let my family down. Just saying that out loud, just letting it be known, it's just so uncomfortable, it's shameful, I'm disappointed, I feel guilty, scared. I'm not perfect. I've never come to be perfect."

Despite the setback, Conner emphasized her determination to continue fighting for her recovery. She acknowledged that while "life happened" and she "fell hard," she refuses to allow this relapse to define her entire story. The reality television figure announced her intention to document her recovery journey publicly, promising her followers an unfiltered look at the rehabilitation process.

"I'm going to bring you all on my journey to recovery. And it's not going to be fun, it's not going to be pretty, it's going to be real, it's going to be raw and it's going to be hard," Conner stated. "But, like I said, I'm a fighter and I refuse to let a relapse define me or be my story."

Conner acknowledged that she is currently facing the consequences of her actions, which her followers will witness in the coming months. "It's not going to be polished, it's going to be authentic, real and what happens in my life when you relapse and do stupid s***, there's consequence," she explained before concluding her message with a statement of resolve: "We're not going to give up, we're going to fight and we're going to get back on track. So with that said, we're going to get ready to go meet the lawyer, so stay tuned."

The situation became further complicated in the hours following her arrest. Ryan Edwards, who shares son Bentley, 16, with ex Maci Bookout McKinney, and son Jagger, 10, and daughter Stella, 5, with ex MacKenzie Standifer, addressed the incident via Facebook, writing, "I will NOT be answering any questions. Please keep us in your prayers."

The following day, according to The Ashley's Reality Roundup, Conner contacted authorities regarding Edwards, alleging she wanted to retrieve her belongings but expressed concerns about an alleged history of "physical abuse." Law enforcement responded to the residence, though no arrests were made. The pair were subsequently observed together outside a gas station, according to the outlet.

Conner's hearing is currently scheduled for Tuesday, June 3. Her public acknowledgment of relapse highlights the ongoing challenges faced by individuals in recovery and the complex intersection of addiction, family dynamics, and legal consequences. Her decision to document her recovery journey may provide insight into the difficult path ahead for those struggling with substance abuse issues.
