Reality Star's Restraining Order Request Denied by Judge

A judge has denied a temporary restraining order request filed by Jordan Ngatikaura against his estranged wife, Jessi Draper, a star of the Hulu reality series The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. The ruling was issued on Tuesday, March 24, less than one week after Ngatikaura, 31, submitted the petition to the court.

Draper, 33, filed her opposition to the restraining order request on the same day her husband initially submitted it, Friday, March 20. The legal maneuvering occurred against the backdrop of the couple's divorce proceedings, which Ngatikaura initiated on Thursday, March 19.

The couple shares two children together and married in 2020, four years before appearing on the popular reality series in 2024. Their relationship has been documented extensively throughout multiple seasons of the show, with their marital difficulties becoming a central storyline.

In a statement released following his divorce filing, Ngatikaura addressed the separation with measured language. "This has not been an easy decision and it comes with a heavy heart," he stated. "I am grateful for the shared memories and the lessons. While our paths are now moving in different directions, my priority remains my children and ensuring they feel loved, supported and protected through this transition."

Ngatikaura, who participates in DadTok, a spinoff group of the MomTok social media community in Utah, emphasized his commitment to handling the dissolution of his marriage respectfully. "I am committed to handling this next chapter with kindness and respect," he said. "I kindly ask for privacy and understanding as we navigate this as a family."

The couple's relationship troubles have been extensively chronicled on their reality series. During the second season, Draper faced allegations of infidelity involving Marciano Brunette, a cast member from another reality show. Draper later acknowledged having what she described as an emotional affair with Brunette.

In an interview conducted ahead of the third season premiere in November 2025, Draper explained the circumstances surrounding the emotional connection. "I did feel a connection to [Marciano] in that sense because he was there for me and he made me feel special," she stated. "Jordan would put me down a lot. Marciano told me how pretty and cool and fun I was. I felt like there was a connection there because he was giving me something I was lacking. But I would not say I was in love with him."

The fourth season of the series, which premiered earlier this month, featured Draper expressing concerns about the potential difficulty of divorcing Ngatikaura. During the season, she also reassessed the terms of her prenuptial agreement, stating she worried he would be "a hard person to be married to" and "a harder person to divorce."

Following the public announcement of the divorce filing, Draper maintained a period of silence on social media. However, on Tuesday, the same day the restraining order was denied, she appeared to break that silence by sharing a screenshot of Taylor Swift's song "Fresh Out the Slammer" on her Instagram story. The post included the lyrics: "But it's gonna be alright. I did my time."

The song selection appeared to reference Draper's experiences within the marriage and her transition to independence. Representatives for both Ngatikaura and Draper have not provided additional comment on the court's decision regarding the restraining order request.

The denial of the temporary restraining order represents the latest development in what has become an increasingly public separation between the reality television personalities. As the legal proceedings continue, both parties have indicated their focus remains on their children and navigating the transition as a family.
