Reality Star Reunites with Hospitalized Daughter After Border Intervention

A reality television personality is expressing gratitude after being reunited with his critically ill daughter following intervention by Arizona lawmakers who helped secure his emergency entry into the United States.

Armando Niedermeier-Rubio, who appeared on the TLC series 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way, provided an update Saturday regarding his 13-year-old daughter Hannah's condition after she was hospitalized in Arizona earlier this week. The teenager had been airlifted from the family's home in Mexico due to rapidly deteriorating health.

"She's improving every day, doing amazing and getting back to her old self slowly but surely," Niedermeier-Rubio stated in an Instagram post on Saturday, July 18. "Although we still have so many unanswered questions as to the cause of her medical emergency and still seeing how she progresses."

Medical professionals determined that Hannah had blood on her brain after she experienced a loss of strength affecting half of her body along with facial drooping. Due to immigration restrictions, Hannah's grandmother and aunt, both legal United States residents, accompanied her to Arizona while Niedermeier-Rubio initially remained unable to cross the border.

His husband, Kenny Niedermeier, was able to reach Hannah's bedside as he had been visiting Ohio at the time of the emergency. However, Armando faced significant obstacles in joining his daughter until elected officials stepped in to assist.

After being turned away at the Mexico-United States border, Niedermeier-Rubio received crucial support from Arizona Democratic Representative Adelita Grijalva and Senator Mark Kelly. The lawmakers facilitated approval for an emergency humanitarian visa that allowed him to enter the country.

In his Saturday Instagram message, Niedermeier-Rubio credited both the political intervention and public advocacy for making the reunion possible. He acknowledged the role of social media attention in bringing national exposure to his situation, which prompted congressional assistance.

"We are very thankful for the amazing Customs & Border Patrol Officers in Arizona who ultimately approved and signed of[f] on my visa & granted me entry into the United States," he wrote. "Truly speechless at all the love & support for making a moment I doubted would happen, happen!"

The father shared that medical staff have observed notable improvements in Hannah's condition since his arrival at her bedside. An emotional video accompanying his post showed the moment he embraced his daughter in the hospital.

"The medics have even expressed my presence with Hannah is already showing improvements in her which have excelled in the last hours," Niedermeier-Rubio wrote, adding praise for his husband's support during the crisis.

The couple first appeared on 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way in 2019, documenting Kenny's relocation from Florida to Mexico to be with Armando. They married in 2021. Kenny has four adult children from a previous relationship: Bricen and triplets Madison, Cassidy, and Taylor. Hannah was born during Armando's marriage to his late wife.

While Hannah continues to recover, medical professionals have not yet determined the underlying cause of her medical emergency. The family remains in Arizona as doctors monitor her progress and conduct further evaluations.
