Our community is mourning the loss of a Philadelphia pastor killed in a devastating New Year's Eve crash in Vineland, as prosecutors move forward with serious charges against the alleged drunk driver responsible.
Donald Hunt, Jr., 34, of Pittsgrove, now faces first-degree aggravated manslaughter charges in the death of Lance Warren, a 41-year-old pastor and educator. According to Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae, Hunt was driving more than twice the posted speed limit and under the influence of alcohol when his Chevrolet Camaro struck Warren's Chrysler 300.
The collision occurred on December 31, 2025, at approximately 9:18 p.m. in the area of North Delsea Drive and Columbia Avenue. Warren was making a U-turn when Hunt's vehicle smashed into his car, police said.
In addition to the manslaughter charge, Hunt faces second-degree vehicular homicide and third-degree strict liability vehicular homicide counts. The severity of these charges reflects the tragic consequences of impaired and reckless driving on our roadways.
Warren leaves behind a legacy of service and dedication to his community. First ordained in 2011, he devoted his life to ministry and education, serving as a teacher at several institutions over the years. He is survived by his wife, parents, siblings, and many other loved ones who are grappling with this sudden loss.
Hunt is currently being held at the Cumberland County Jail. A detention hearing was scheduled for early January to determine whether he would remain in custody pending trial.
This tragedy serves as a sobering reminder of the devastating impact of drunk driving on our families and neighborhoods. As we reflect on this loss, our thoughts remain with Warren's family, his congregation, and all those whose lives he touched through his ministry and teaching.
