NFL Journalist Russini Attends Concert With Husband Amid Controversy

NFL journalist Dianna Russini and her husband, Kevin Goldschmidt, attended a Bruce Springsteen concert at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Sunday, May 17, continuing a series of public appearances together in the wake of a scandal involving New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel.

According to photographs published by the Daily Mail on Sunday, the couple dined at Bourbon and Branch bar adjacent to the concert venue, joined by a group of friends. The outlet reported that Russini, 43, and Goldschmidt appeared in good spirits and were described as very excitable as they shared drinks and food before the performance.

This appearance represents the latest chapter in a controversy that began when Page Six published photographs on April 7 showing Russini holding hands and embracing Vrabel, 50, at an Arizona resort. The situation intensified approximately two weeks later when the outlet released additional images appearing to show the pair kissing inside a New York City bar in 2020.

A third set of photographs emerged on May 7, published by TMZ, depicting Russini and Vrabel on the dock of a private boat rental company in Putnam County, Tennessee, in June 2021. The outlet reported one day prior that Russini and Vrabel were the only two individuals aboard the vessel during that outing.

The timing of the Tennessee photographs carries particular significance, as Russini was pregnant with her first child at the time. She married Goldschmidt in September 2020, and the couple now share two sons: Michael, born in August 2021, and Joseph, born in October 2022.

Both Russini and Vrabel issued statements addressing the initial Arizona resort photographs when they first circulated. Vrabel, who shares two children with his wife Jen, told the Post that the images showed a completely innocent interaction and characterized any alternative suggestion as laughable, stating the matter did not deserve further response.

Russini provided her own statement to the Post, explaining that the photographs did not represent the group of six people who were present during the day. She noted that journalists in the NFL routinely interact with sources away from stadiums and other venues as part of their professional responsibilities.

The professional consequences for Russini proved significant. One week after the initial photographs surfaced, she resigned from her position at The Athletic following an internal investigation into the matter.

Vrabel addressed the situation publicly on April 21 during a session with NFL reporters, acknowledging the personal and professional impact of the controversy. He revealed that he had engaged in difficult conversations with people he cares about, including his family, the organization, coaches, and players, describing those discussions as positive and productive.

The Patriots head coach emphasized the importance of sound decision-making both on and off the field, acknowledging his own responsibility in setting that standard. He expressed regret that his actions had negatively affected the team and created a distraction from football operations.

Vrabel concluded his remarks with a commitment to improvement, promising that his family, the organization, the team, the staff, the coaches, and most importantly the fans would receive the best version of himself going forward.

The Sunday concert outing marks the second documented public appearance by Russini and Goldschmidt since the controversy began, suggesting the couple continues to navigate the situation together while maintaining their relationship in the public eye.
