Country music star Morgan Wallen has addressed the viral incident in which he flipped over a piano during a concert performance in Denver, Colorado, responding with characteristic sarcasm four days after the event occurred.
The 33-year-old musician took to TikTok to share his first public remarks following the Friday, May 29 incident at Empower Field at Mile High. In the video, Wallen appeared in what seemed to be a dressing room, tapping piano keys while delivering a pointed message to his audience.
"Hey, I just want you guys to know that right now this piano is working," Wallen stated in the clip, which was filmed one night after the incident. "That's what they told me last night, too."
The artist captioned the video with additional sarcasm: "Can't you tell I'm so distraught over my piano?"
The incident occurred during Wallen's Still The Problem Tour, a 23-stadium concert series currently traversing the United States. According to footage circulated on social media and reported by multiple news outlets, the musician appeared frustrated just before performing his hit song "Sand In My Boots." Technical difficulties prevented him from hearing his piano through his ear pieces, leading to the dramatic moment captured on video.
The technical malfunction prompted Wallen to push the instrument across the stage before ultimately flipping it over completely. He proceeded to perform the track a cappella, continuing the show despite the equipment failure.
Fan reaction to Wallen's TikTok response proved mixed. Supporters flooded the comments section with messages of approval, with one fan writing, "I love seeing you clap back," while another commented, "Hah! I was there … great concert!"
However, the incident also drew criticism across social media platforms. One Instagram user characterized the behavior as unprofessional, writing, "Grown professional if you can believe it." Another commenter referenced past controversies, stating, "From chairs in the streets of Nashville to flipping pianos. Wow, anger management may help. What a baby."
The piano incident represents the latest in a series of controversial moments that have punctuated Wallen's career since his rise to prominence on season 6 of The Voice in 2014. The musician was arrested in May 2020 for public intoxication and disorderly conduct while at Kid Rock's Nashville establishment, Big Honky Tonk, though both charges were later cleared. That same year, Wallen claimed to have lost a Saturday Night Live hosting opportunity after being photographed without a face mask and kissing multiple women at college bars during the COVID-19 pandemic, when mask mandates remained in effect. When he eventually appeared on SNL as a musical guest in March 2025, he generated additional controversy by walking off stage before the show's end credits concluded, an unusual departure from standard protocol.
Perhaps most significantly, Wallen faced widespread backlash in 2021 after TMZ published footage showing him using a racial slur publicly during a period of heightened racial tension following the murder of George Floyd. The musician subsequently apologized and pledged to "do better."
Representatives for Wallen did not respond to requests for comment regarding the Denver piano incident. The Still The Problem Tour continues its scheduled dates across the country.
