A heated argument in Middle Township's Whitesboro section escalated into violence late Tuesday night, leaving one man hospitalized with stab wounds and another facing serious criminal charges.
Middle Township police responded to a home on Reeves Street just before midnight on Tuesday after receiving reports of a stabbing. Officers found a 43-year-old Whitesboro man suffering from injuries to his neck and shoulder. Emergency responders transported the victim to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division, for treatment.
According to police, the incident began as a verbal dispute between the victim and Andrew Enman, a 38-year-old resident of Egg Harbor Township. The confrontation turned physical when Enman allegedly pulled a knife and stabbed the other man. Enman fled the scene before officers arrived but was later located during the investigation and taken into custody.
Authorities emphasized that the two men knew each other prior to the incident, and the stabbing was not a random act of violence. Police have assured residents that there is no ongoing danger to the public.
Enman now faces multiple serious charges, including criminal attempt (murder), two counts of aggravated assault in the second and third degrees, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon, and certain persons not to possess a weapon. He is currently being held at the Cape May County Correctional Facility as he awaits court proceedings.
The investigation remains ongoing as prosecutors prepare their case. Anyone with additional information about the incident is encouraged to contact Middle Township Police Department.
This incident serves as a sobering reminder of how quickly conflicts can escalate into life-threatening situations. Our community's safety depends on finding peaceful resolutions to disagreements and seeking help when tensions rise.
