The race for Los Angeles mayor took an entertainment-industry turn this week as singer Katharine McPhee and music producer David Foster opened their Brentwood Park estate to support Spencer Pratt's mayoral campaign. The Monday, May 12 fundraiser drew a roster of Hollywood power players and featured a personalized musical performance that underscored the unconventional nature of the 2026 mayoral race.
One America News Network host Alicia Summers documented the event through social media footage showing Foster, 76, at the keyboards while McPhee, 42, performed a modified version of Tina Turner's "The Best." The customized lyrics praised Pratt as superior to his leading opponents, current Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and City Council member Nithya Raman. In a moment that captured the informal atmosphere, McPhee momentarily referred to Raman as "Cynthia" before correcting herself, with Pratt appearing equally uncertain about the proper name.
The guest list reflected significant entertainment industry interest in the race. According to Vanity Fair, attendees included Brian Grazer, the Hollywood producer behind Apollo 13, A Beautiful Mind, and The Da Vinci Code through his Imagine Entertainment partnership with Ron Howard. The presence of such established industry figures signals growing mainstream attention to Pratt's campaign, which has evolved from novelty candidacy to competitive political force.
Foster's support stems from a longstanding connection to the former Hills star through Pratt's friendship with Foster's former stepson Brody Jenner. Foster was married to Jenner's mother, Linda Thompson, from 1991 to 2005. The music producer, who has been married five times—to B.J. Cook from 1972 to 1981, Rebecca Dyer from 1982 to 1996, Yolanda Hadid from 2011 to 2017, and current wife McPhee since 2019—has maintained relationships across the entertainment landscape. In his recent memoir The Guy You Loved to Hate, Pratt described Foster as the "G.O.A.T," an acronym for the "Greatest of All Time."
The fundraiser represents the latest in a series of high-profile endorsements for Pratt's campaign. Former Los Angeles Lakers owner Jeanie Buss contributed $1,800 to Pratt's mayoral fund in April, according to contribution reports. Former View cohost Meghan McCain, Jax Taylor, Kristin Cavallari, and Jonathan "FoodGod" Cheban have all publicly endorsed the candidate's mayoral run.
Despite the celebrity support, polling data shows a competitive but challenging path ahead. A recent Emerson College Polling/Inside California Politics survey reported by KTLA shows Bass maintaining a lead over Pratt, 30 percent to 22 percent. The candidates face a primary election on June 2. If no candidate secures a majority in that contest, the top two finishers will advance to the general election on November 3.
Pratt has centered his campaign on criticism of Bass's response to the Palisades Fire in January 2025, which destroyed his family home along with approximately 6,000 other residences. The candidate, his wife Heidi Montag, and their two sons recently relocated from a temporary trailer to the Hotel Bel-Air in California. When critics questioned the expense of the hotel accommodation, Pratt responded directly on social media, writing: "Hey guys, why don't they wanna talk about why I need a hotel in the first place? Karen Bass let my home burn down. Also 6,000 of my neighbors. NBD."
The Brentwood Park fundraiser illustrates how Pratt has leveraged entertainment industry connections to build campaign infrastructure and financial support. Whether celebrity endorsements and musical performances can translate into electoral success remains to be seen as Los Angeles voters prepare for the June primary. The race has already defied conventional political expectations, transforming a reality television personality into a serious contender for leadership of the nation's second-largest city.
