Man Legally Named Santa Claus Arrested in Child Sex Sting

A 75-year-old Louisiana man who legally changed his name to Santa Claus was arrested last week as part of a child sex sting operation conducted by the Kenner Police Department.

The suspect faces two serious charges: computer-aided solicitation of a minor and indecent behavior with a juvenile. Bond was set at $20,000 for each charge, according to the Kenner Police Department.

According to law enforcement officials, Santa Claus initiated contact with an undercover agent who was posing as a 15-year-old. Investigators allege that during the course of their conversation, he discussed engaging in sexual acts with the fictitious teenager.

The arrest raises particular concern due to the suspect's appearance and chosen identity. According to TMZ.com, a Kenner Police press release stated, "His physical appearance indicates he does take on the persona of the Santa Clause which is alarming considering he was attempting to have sex with a boy."

Photographs of the suspect show him with thick white hair and a bushy beard, wearing red clothing that reinforces his adopted persona.

The case underscores the ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to identify and apprehend individuals who attempt to exploit minors through online communication. Computer-aided solicitation of a minor is a serious felony offense in Louisiana, carrying significant prison time upon conviction.

The Kenner Police Department continues to investigate the matter. The suspect's legal name change to Santa Claus, combined with his physical appearance matching the traditional image of the holiday figure, adds a disturbing dimension to the allegations.
