A violent confrontation at a local motel has resulted in serious criminal charges for a Middle Township man, according to law enforcement officials who responded to the scene Friday afternoon.
Adam Radomski, 43, was arrested and charged with attempted murder after allegedly shooting another man in the face at the Simpson Motel on Route 47 in Rio Grande. The incident occurred just before 1 p.m. on Friday, May 15, when Middle Township police responded to reports of a gunshot injury.
Officers arriving at the scene discovered a 25-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to the face. Emergency responders transported the victim to the Atlantic City campus of AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center for treatment. Authorities have not released information about his current condition or identity.
According to details released by Middle Township Police Chief Tracey Super and Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey Sutherland, investigators determined that Radomski confronted the victim as he arrived at the hotel, "which resulted in the shooting incident."
"Through coordinated investigative efforts, officers located Radomski a short time later in the Rio Grande section of Middle Township," reads the statement released by police. "Radomski was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Middle Township Police Department."
During the investigation, police discovered a handgun along with accessories and parts for firearms and other weapons. The discovery led to additional charges beyond the attempted murder count.
Radomski now faces charges of aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, and several other weapons-related offenses. He also faces a charge connected to refusing to allow a biological sample to be taken. Following his arrest, Radomski was taken to Cape May County jail.
The stakes are high for the accused. Someone convicted of a first-degree crime, such as attempted murder, could face 10 to 20 years in state prison, according to Sutherland.
Prosecutor Sutherland emphasized that there is no ongoing threat to the public connected to the incident, though the investigation remains active. The major crimes unit of the Middle Township Police Department led the investigation, working in coordination with the Prosecutor's Office and the K-9 unit from the Cape May County Sheriff's Office.
