A recorded jail call between Mackenzie Shirilla and her mother reveals a lighthearted exchange that stands in stark contrast to the serious nature of her legal situation. The conversation, obtained by TMZ, centers on comments Shirilla received following one of her court appearances.
During the call, Shirilla and her mother, Natalie, discussed a message from a woman named Kendra, who had watched a livestream of the court proceedings. Rather than focusing on the legal matters at hand, Kendra's message commented on Shirilla's physical appearance.
"Bro, your ass has gotten so big lmao," the message read, according to the recording. Natalie responded to her daughter by saying, "Everybody's saying you got a bumping little booty now."
The exchange represents a departure from other recorded jail calls, many of which have addressed the deadly crash case and its aftermath. Previous recordings have also touched on Shirilla's male admirers.
Shirilla was convicted in connection with the 2022 crash that killed her boyfriend, Dominic Russo, and his friend, Davion Flanagan. She is currently serving two concurrent sentences of 15-years-to-life and is not eligible for parole until September 2037.
The case has gained renewed attention following the release of the Netflix documentary "The Crash." Shirilla continues to battle her conviction while maintaining her innocence.
