Exit Zero Property Reopens as Mediterranean Restaurant

Our community is welcoming a fresh culinary concept to a familiar West Cape May location. The former Exit Zero property has been reimagined as Mediterrano By Santorini, a Mediterranean restaurant that began accepting reservations last week.

The restaurant occupies the landmark building at 110 Sunset Blvd., a property that changed hands on December 18 following a months-long online auction that launched in early September. Former owner Jack Wright had initially listed the site for $4.7 million before opting for the auction format to broaden the pool of potential buyers.

The new proprietor, Florian Furxhiu, brings considerable experience to the venture. He currently operates three restaurants in Wildwood: Venezia, La Cantina and Santorini. His vision for the West Cape May location centers on merging two beloved Mediterranean traditions into a single dining experience.

"I'm going to take the best out of both cuisines and combine one menu," Furxhiu told NJ Advance Media earlier this year, describing his approach to blending Greek and Italian flavors.

The menu reflects this fusion philosophy with offerings that span both culinary traditions. Diners can expect to find spanakopita alongside chicken parm, while seafood selections include local oysters and lobster risotto. The approach gives our community a dining option that honors the Mediterranean's diverse food culture while showcasing regional ingredients.

While reservations are currently being accepted, Furxhiu plans to hold an official grand opening celebration, though a specific date hasn't been announced yet. The transformation of this longtime local landmark represents both a preservation of the property's community significance and an exciting new direction for West Cape May's dining scene.

For those who've watched the Exit Zero property evolve over the years, this latest chapter offers a chance to experience familiar surroundings through a fresh culinary lens—one that brings together the warmth of Italian cooking with the vibrant flavors of Greek cuisine.
