Ellen DeGeneres demonstrated that retirement from daytime television has not diminished her enthusiasm for pranking friends, as evidenced by a video posted to Instagram on Saturday, June 6, showing the former talk show host terrifying Kris Jenner during what appears to be a vacation in Mallorca.
The video, which contains explicit language, captures DeGeneres, 68, concealing herself behind a wall in what is reportedly a Mallorca vacation home where she and Jenner have been enjoying a getaway with their partners, Portia de Rossi and Corey Gamble. As Jenner, 70, walked around the corner wearing a flowing caftan, DeGeneres jumped out and screamed directly in her face.
"What the f*** is wrong with you?" Jenner screamed at DeGeneres in the video. The reality star continued her expletive-laden response while laughing, exclaiming, "You f***ing a**hole! Oh my god!"
As DeGeneres laughed in the background, Jenner admitted the physical impact of the scare. "I have shivers all over my f***ing body!" the Kardashians star said.
Despite her initial fright, Jenner recovered quickly and shared the prank on her own Instagram account with the caption, "@ellendegeneres still at her shenanigans… it never gets old."
The post drew reactions from numerous members of the Kardashian family's extended circle, including Malika and Khadijah Haqq, Kimora Lee Simmons, Kyle Richards, and Tristan Thompson, who replied with laughing emojis in the comments section.
Khadijah, 43, wrote, "I love yalls relationship," before quoting Jenner's reaction: "'…Shivers all [over] my body…'"
The prank represents a continuation of DeGeneres' signature style from her daytime talk show, which aired from 2003 to 2022. During that run, she became known for elaborate pranks on celebrity guests. Notable examples included surprising Pink with a man in a cockroach costume during an interview and frightening Jake Gyllenhaal with the cursed doll Annabelle springing from a box.
The Kardashian-Jenner family served as frequent targets of DeGeneres' pranks throughout the years. In April 2022, she confronted Kim Kardashian, who is famously arachnophobic, with a live spider on stage.
However, Kris Jenner has consistently been DeGeneres' favorite target. Previous pranks included the comic filming herself singing in the sleeping reality star's ear and horrifying her with a jump scare in a dark hallway.
