Our community gathered on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, to celebrate a milestone that represents both renewal and commitment to quality senior care. The County of Cape May, in partnership with Allaire Health Services, hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Crest Haven Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, unveiling the results of major renovations that transform the facility into a modern healthcare environment while honoring its legacy of serving Cape May County and Southern New Jersey.
The celebration drew a large crowd of dignitaries, Allaire leadership, and members of the senior care community, all eager to witness the transformation of Crest Haven's 60-bed subacute unit. Cape May County Board of Commissioners Director Leonard C. Desiderio led the county's delegation, joined by Commissioners Bobby Barr, Andrew Bulakowski, and Patrick Rosenello, who toured the newly renovated spaces alongside attendees.
A Hospitality-Inspired Healthcare Environment
Allaire Health Services' substantial investment brought comprehensive physical upgrades throughout the 180-bed facility. The project reimagined multiple areas to create an environment that feels less institutional and more welcoming—a place where healing and comfort go hand in hand.
The renovated entry lobby now greets residents, families, and visitors with a warm, hospitality-inspired atmosphere that sets a positive tone from the moment someone walks through the doors. The therapy gym received a complete modernization, equipped with state-of-the-art equipment designed to support more effective rehabilitation programs for patients working to regain strength and independence.
Perhaps most significantly, patient suites underwent comprehensive updates featuring modern finishes, improved lighting, and hotel-style amenities. These thoughtful design choices promote privacy, dignity, and comfort during what can be challenging recovery periods. Additional improvements include refreshed common areas, updated infrastructure, and design enhancements that create a more functional and aesthetically pleasing environment throughout the center.
"Allaire Health Services is thrilled to share the completion of these major renovations at Crest Haven with the Cape May County community," said Ben Kurland, Chief Executive/Owner of Allaire Health Services. "We want to thank Dynamic Design for their amazing transformation of the facility and the Crest Haven leadership team and staff for their dedication throughout this project. These improvements reflect our commitment to elevating the environment while building on the County's longstanding tradition of excellent care."
Kurland emphasized the company's philosophy of blending healthcare excellence with hospitality. "Our modernized private patient suites are an Allaire signature, ensuring that our patients have privacy, dignity, and first-class amenities built into their recovery journey. We look forward to welcoming residents, families, and guests to experience this renewed space that supports healing, comfort, and connection."
A Partnership Rooted in Community
The ribbon-cutting ceremony featured remarks from both Commissioner Director Leonard C. Desiderio and Allaire Health Services leadership, highlighting the strong partnership that has developed since Cape May County and Allaire reached an agreement in November 2023 for Allaire to assume leadership and management of Crest Haven effective January 1, 2024.
"We look forward to celebrating our successful partnership with Allaire Health Services and the beautiful improvements made to Crest Haven," said Director Leonard C. Desiderio. "This major investment demonstrates Allaire's dedication to our community and our shared commitment to continually improve and expand vital services for Crest Haven residents."
Under the agreement, Allaire continues to operate Crest Haven as a nursing and rehabilitation center while maintaining the important Meals on Wheels program. Since taking over operations, the company has focused on both physical upgrades and clinical enhancements to elevate the standard of care while preserving the facility's vital role in our community.
Planting Seeds of Hope
Following the formal ceremony, the celebration took on special meaning as Commissioner Desiderio and CEO Ben Kurland led attendees to the Crest Haven front lawn for a symbolic Earth Day tree planting. The act represented the renewal of life and embodied what organizers called "a spring of bright hope for the future of Crest Haven and its residents."
It was a fitting gesture for a day celebrating new beginnings—both for the physical space and for the residents who will benefit from these thoughtfully designed improvements. The renovations reflect a broader philosophy that healthcare environments should reduce stress, foster connection, and support healing through every design choice.
Allaire Health Services operates state-of-the-art residential, long-term, rehabilitation, and subacute care facilities across New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Vermont. The company has built its reputation on transforming healthcare centers by combining clinical excellence with thoughtfully designed environments that promote well-being and dignity—a philosophy now fully realized at Crest Haven.
For families seeking quality care for their loved ones and for our community's seniors who deserve environments that honor their dignity and support their recovery, the renovated Crest Haven represents a significant step forward in local senior care services.
