Court Releases Evidence in Karmelo Anthony Murder Case

A Texas court has released extensive evidence from the murder trial of Karmelo Anthony, providing the public with direct access to the materials that led to his 35-year prison sentence for the killing of Austin Metcalf.

The court made public a substantial collection of evidence on Friday, June 19, 2026, including security camera footage, police bodycam recordings, 911 calls, photographs, and other materials presented during the trial. The release comes less than two weeks after Anthony's conviction.

Among the most significant pieces of evidence is security camera video capturing the murder scene moments before Anthony fatally stabbed Metcalf. The footage shows activity under a tent, followed by a highlighted individual believed to be Anthony running down bleachers and fleeing the scene.

The release also includes police bodycam footage showing Anthony restrained by officers. While the camera pans away from him during a portion of the recording, audio captures someone stating, "I'm not alleged. I did it," according to TMZ.com.

The court additionally made public graphic photographic evidence, including images of Metcalf's stab wound and his bloodied clothing. These materials provide a stark visual record of the violence that occurred.

Anthony is planning to appeal his conviction, though no timeline for the appellate process has been announced. The public release of trial evidence is standard procedure in many jurisdictions following criminal convictions, allowing transparency in the judicial process.

The 35-year sentence represents a significant prison term for the murder conviction. The case has drawn attention due to the nature of the crime and the now-public evidence documenting the events leading to Metcalf's death.
