CNN's Kaitlan Collins Unfazed by Trump's WHCD Insults

CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins addressed President Donald Trump's personal attacks against her during last Friday's White House Correspondents' Dinner, telling Jon Stewart the insults were nothing new to her.

During an appearance on Monday's episode of "The Daily Show," the host of "The Source With Kaitlan Collins" revealed that Trump insults her regularly inside the Oval Office. The only distinction at the White House Correspondents' Dinner was the larger audience witnessing the exchange.

Collins suggested the president's remarks stemmed from frustration over her receiving recognition for her journalism. During his speech at the dinner, Trump compared Collins to trans influencer Dylan Mulvaney and criticized her demeanor, stating she never smiles despite being young and attractive. He also referenced her employer as "CNN fake news."

The award that apparently drew Trump's ire was the White House Correspondents' Award for Excellence in Presidential News Coverage Under Deadline Pressure in broadcast journalism. Collins received the honor for her reporting on Trump's 2025 Oval Office meetings with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Following the Friday dinner, Collins responded to the president's comments on Instagram, asserting that he targeted her because of the challenging questions she poses during press briefings. She reiterated this position during her conversation with Stewart on Monday, emphasizing that Trump appeared bothered by both her award and the persistent questioning that often yields what she characterized as non-answers from the administration.

The exchange represents the latest chapter in an ongoing tension between the CNN journalist and the president, highlighting the contentious relationship between the current administration and members of the White House press corps who pursue aggressive questioning strategies.
