A brief social media comment from actress Christina Ricci has ignited conversation about singer Katy Perry's appearance at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's annual Costume Institute fundraiser this week.

Perry, 41, attended the prestigious Met Gala on Monday, May 4, wearing a futuristic face covering that completely obscured her features. The singer paired the mask with a white Stella McCartney gown as her interpretation of the event's "Costume Art" theme.

When Variety shared photographs on social media showing Perry standing alongside Heated Rivalry star Connor Storrie at the event, Ricci, 46, responded with a single word in the comments section: "Yikes."

The publication had captioned the carousel of images: "#ConnorStorrie poses with #KatyPerry at the #MetGala, jokingly hiding his face to match her look." Ricci's terse response suggests disapproval of either Perry's fashion choice or the overall situation, though the actress has not elaborated on her comment.

Representatives for both Ricci and Perry have not responded to requests for comment regarding the exchange.

The timing of Perry's Met Gala appearance has drawn additional scrutiny due to recent allegations made against the singer. Actress Ruby Rose recently alleged that she was "assaulted" by Perry almost 20 years ago. Perry has vehemently denied the accusations.

In a statement provided last month, Perry's representative characterized the allegations as false. "The allegations being circulated on social media by Ruby Rose about Katy Perry are not only categorically false, they are dangerous reckless lies," the statement read. "Ms. Rose has a well-documented history of making serious public allegations on social media against various individuals, claims that have repeatedly been denied by those named."

Rose, 40, made her claims via a series of posts on the social media platform Threads on May 12. The Orange Is The New Black alum wrote: "Katy Perry sexual [sic] assaulted me at spice market nightclub in Melbourne. Who gives a s*** what she thinks." She continued: "After it I threw up on her. I told the story publicly but changed it to be a 'funny little drunk story' because I didn't know how else to handle it."

Rose further claimed that she remained silent about the alleged incident because Perry "later agreed to help me get my US visa. So I kept it a secret. But I DID tell yall she wasn't a good person. Instead I got attacked by … Everyone."

In additional posts, Rose provided graphic details of the alleged assault, stating: "She saw me 'resting' on my best friend's lap to avoid her and bent down, pulled her underwear to the side and rubbed her disgusting vagina on my face until my eyes snapped open and I projectile vomitted [sic] on her."

Rose has since indicated that she has spoken to authorities about the alleged incident. Victoria Police in Australia confirmed they are investigating Rose's claims after a report was filed. Perry has not been charged with a crime.

Whether Ricci's comment was directed at Perry's fashion choice, the broader controversy surrounding the singer, or both remains unclear. The actress has not issued any further statements clarifying her position.
