Cassie Fights Back Against Lawsuit With Text Evidence

Singer Cassie is pushing back against allegations from a former male model who claims she and Sean 'Diddy' Combs drugged him, presenting evidence that the accuser initially offered his support before filing suit.

According to legal documents filed in court, Cassie is seeking dismissal of claims brought by Edmond Laurent, who has alleged sexual battery and assault. The singer contends that Laurent's lawsuit should be thrown out based on his shifting narrative and the timing of his legal action.

The court filings reveal that after Cassie publicly detailed allegations of abuse by Diddy in 2023, Laurent contacted her with a supportive message. The text message read: "Hi hope you ok i'm sorry I didn't know he was doing that to you. I will definitely be a witness for you. Edmond. L."

Cassie's legal team argues that the only significant development between Laurent's supportive text and his subsequent lawsuit was her settlement with Diddy. The singer reached a resolution to her bombshell lawsuit against the music mogul for twenty million dollars.

In her court response, Cassie characterizes Laurent's legal action as a misuse of the judicial system. Her filing states that his "repulsive use of the judicial system and the attempt to make a victim into an abuser should not be" permitted by the court. She further describes the lawsuit as "baseless and harassing," arguing that such actions discourage "actual victims from coming forward or testifying truthfully as a government witness."

While Cassie acknowledges participating in encounters with Diddy, she maintains her position as a victim of the disgraced music executive. Laurent, who has appeared in music videos for artists including Britney Spears and Lil' Kim, alleged in his lawsuit that he believed Cassie and Diddy drugged him by placing Rohypnol and ketamine in a beverage.

Cassie's legal response highlights an apparent contradiction in Laurent's own complaint. She points to his acknowledgment that she was incapacitated by drugs during the incidents in question. Her attorneys argue it is unreasonable to infer her actions were voluntary, asserting that available evidence indicates Diddy was directing her behavior during these encounters.

The legal battle represents another chapter in the ongoing fallout from allegations against Diddy, which have generated significant public attention and multiple legal proceedings. The case raises complex questions about victimization, coercion, and the responsibilities of individuals who may themselves have been under duress or incapacitation.

The court has not yet ruled on Cassie's motion to dismiss Laurent's claims. The outcome could have implications for how courts evaluate allegations involving multiple parties who may have varying degrees of agency and culpability in alleged criminal conduct.
