Brush Fire Threatens Homes in Hamilton Township

Our community's firefighters worked through the early morning hours Tuesday to contain a brush fire that threatened residential areas in Hamilton Township, Atlantic County.

Emergency crews received the call around 3 a.m. for a brush fire in the area of McCall Avenue and Jackson Road. When first responders arrived on scene, they found flames consuming approximately three acres, with roughly a dozen homes in the fire's path.

Firefighters immediately established a fire line to prevent the blaze from spreading to nearby residences. While this defensive strategy successfully protected homes, the fire itself expanded to about six acres as crews worked to bring it under control.

Officials reported that the fire was eventually contained, though crews remained on scene to monitor hot spots and ensure no rekindling occurred. The quick response and strategic firefighting efforts prevented what could have been a devastating loss for local homeowners.

This incident serves as a reminder of the ongoing fire risk in our area, particularly during dry conditions. Residents are encouraged to maintain defensible space around their properties and remain vigilant about potential fire hazards.
