Our community's travel options are expanding significantly as Breeze Airways announces four new routes from Atlantic City International Airport (ACY). The announcement brings welcome news for local travelers seeking convenient access to popular vacation destinations.
Starting this summer, Breeze Airways will launch nonstop daily service to Orlando, Florida beginning July 3. The airline will follow up with three additional routes in the fall and winter: nonstop service to both Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and Fort Myers, Florida starting October 22, and flights to West Palm Beach, Florida beginning December 17.
The timing of this expansion is particularly significant for our region. Spirit Airlines announced on Saturday, May 2, that it would go out of business and conduct an "orderly wind-down of our operations." Spirit had been one of only a few commercial carriers serving ACY, and its departure has created disruptions for travelers who must now rebook flights or manage changed itineraries.
Breeze Airways has been steadily building its presence in New Jersey since 2024. The airline announced in January that it would begin regular service from ACY, including flights to Tampa, Florida; Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina; and Charleston, South Carolina. These four newly announced routes represent a significant commitment to serving our community and filling the gap left by Spirit's exit.
Atlantic City International Airport travelers still have options beyond Breeze Airways. Allegiant Air currently serves ACY and continues to operate flights from the airport. Launched in 2021, Allegiant has experienced rapid growth and now serves more than 80 cities nationwide, though the airline has not issued a formal statement regarding Spirit's closure.
For residents who have long relied on ACY for affordable, convenient air travel, the expansion of Breeze Airways service offers reassurance that our local airport will continue to provide competitive options. The new routes to Florida's Gulf Coast, the Sunshine State's Atlantic beaches, and South Carolina's coastal destinations align perfectly with popular vacation preferences among travelers in our region.
As the summer travel season approaches, these new routes give our community more flexibility and choice when planning getaways. The daily Orlando service, in particular, opens up access to theme parks and Central Florida attractions, while the coastal destinations offer beach lovers multiple options for quick escapes from the Northeast.
