Brad Pitt Accused of Secret Subpoena in Jolie Battle

Brad Pitt is being accused of secretly attempting to obtain information in his protracted legal battle with ex-wife Angelina Jolie, according to new court filings that have emerged in the dispute over their jointly owned winery.

The allegations come from Stoli, the Russian vodka company that has been drawn into the legal fight between the former Hollywood couple over Château Miraval, their French estate and winery. In legal documents obtained by TMZ, Stoli claims Pitt has been making improper procedural moves to gather intelligence that could be used against Jolie at trial.

According to the filing, Pitt's legal team issued a subpoena in December 2025 to a bank as part of a bankruptcy proceeding that Stoli filed in Texas. The subpoena requested the bank turn over emails exchanged with Stoli and included questions about Vladimir Putin, Russia, and any Russian assets held by the vodka company.

The controversy stems from the couple's divorce and the subsequent sale of Jolie's stake in the winery. Pitt and Jolie purchased the winery during their marriage, and when they divorced, she sold her ownership interest to Stoli. Pitt has maintained that Jolie needed his approval to sell her stake, an assertion she disputes. He has also claimed that the head of Stoli had ties to Russia and that the company was attempting a hostile takeover of the business he spent years developing.

Stoli's complaint centers on the timing and manner in which Pitt's team handled the subpoena. The company alleges that Pitt informed them about the subpoena only weeks after he had already obtained the requested documents from the bank. Stoli contends that the subpoenas concerned matters unrelated to the underlying case and that Pitt's team already possesses the documents they requested. The liquor company is demanding that the documents be destroyed immediately.

The vodka giant appears to believe that Pitt deliberately withheld notification of the subpoena until after securing the documents in order to prevent Stoli from raising objections through proper legal channels.

A source close to Pitt offered a different perspective, telling TMZ that Jolie and Stoli have a pattern of withholding documents about their business arrangement, suggesting both sides have engaged in similar conduct. The source attributed the dispute to a communication breakdown between current and previous counsel representing the opposing side, noting that earlier attorneys were aware of the document request.

The source characterized the entire controversy as premature, pointing out that no hearing has yet taken place on the matter. Additionally, the source emphasized that Pitt opposed selling to Stoli due to concerns about the company's business practices, and suggested that the bankruptcy documents at issue highlight and reinforce those concerns.

The legal battle over Château Miraval has become one of the most contentious aspects of the former couple's divorce proceedings, with both parties fighting over control and ownership of the valuable wine-producing property. The dispute has now expanded to include questions about corporate governance, international business ties, and the proper procedures for discovery in complex litigation.

As the case continues to unfold, the allegations of improper subpoena practices add another layer of complexity to an already complicated legal situation involving multiple parties across international borders.
